MIRI: The Rotary Club of Miri Oil Town has assisted Miri Hospital with its need to extend its current infrastructure for a Covid-19 Examination Clinic.

Upon receiving the request from the hospital on April 1, the club quickly started the Miri Hospital Outdoor Covid-19 Clinic project relying on the generosity of some caring corporations.

The club initiated conceptual and detailed designs and called Green Summit Development Group to coordinate the construction under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme.

Thanks to the generous contributions of various donors and builders, together with the commitment and dedication of the suppliers and workers on site, the two air-conditioned portable cabins complete with lighting, internal finishing, painting, and sanitisation were ready for occupation within a span of 48 hours.

During the handover on Friday, the club president Chan Soon Onn reassured Miri Hospital that the public would always support them.

“You (medical staff) stay at work for us, we will support you, always,” he said.

Miri Hospital director Dr Jack Wong said the public hospital has always strived to equip itself adequately and manage and treat patients to the best of its ability, while ensuring staff are safe.

“I am expressing my sincere thanks and gratitude to the club for initiating the donation of two screening cabins for our front-liners who are conducting the screening for suspected Covid-19 patients.

“With these two new cabins, we shall be able to provide a more conducive and confidential screening environment for both our healthcare workers and the public,” said Dr Wong.

He thanked all the donors and workers who completed the construction at an amazing pace.

“We will be relocating the current makeshift screening tent to these two comfortable cabins for Covid screening very soon.

“Once again, my gratitude to all involved in this project, and finally to all Mirians, please stay home and stay safe,” he added.

Other CSR teams involved in the project were Pari Inn, BGS Group Sdn Bhd, 99 Electrical Co, Tomling Projects Sdn Bhd, Hup Xin Luong Aluminium & Glass Sdn Bhd, Ling Attraction Sdn Bhd, Union Air-Conditioning, Amhome Sdn Bhd, Zee’s Aircond Service, Unik Air-Conditioning Service, Super Nexus Sdn Bhd, Broadway Studio, GoKleen Trading & Services Sdn Bhd, SJDA Partners Sdn Bhd, and CCA Associates Sdn Bhd.

Other Friends of Rotary also contributed cash or materials.

The club also handed over fruit juices sponsored by FDP Marketing Sdn Bhd, and coffee refill capsules sponsored by Arristo Sdn Bhd.
