SIBU: Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong has been appointed the new chairman of the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Niosh), according to a congratulatory message posted on its website.

He replaces Lanang MP Alice Lau, who was appointed by the previous federal administration but had her tenure ended early following the change of government.

She was made Niosh chairperson on Oct 1 last year on a three-year contract.

Attempts to contact Ugak yesterday on his appointment were unsuccessful.

Ugak is a two-term MP for Hulu Rajang and Parti Rakyat Sarawak vice-president.
