State fire department continues sanitisation of public places

Firefight disinfect DBKU Depot.

KUCHING: Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) continued sanitization operations in a few locations around Kuching, Serian, Bintulu and Miri yesterday.

State assistant director of operations Tiong Ling Hii said as of 11am yesterday, three locations in Kuching, Serian (1), Bintulu (1), Miri (4) and Limbang (1) were disinfected.

“In Kuching, disinfection was carried out in collaboration with DBKU at Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) Depot and DBKU headquarters, Kuching Post Office and Block D1, Batu Kawa General Operations Force (GOF),” he said in a statement yesterday.

Tiong added that from March 30 up to April 13, the department has sanitised 149 premises throughout the state comprising 39 public markets, public places (20), houses of worship (35), government buildings (34), transport vehicles (16), residential areas (10), supermarkets (2) and hotels (3).

These were accomplished with 58 sanitisation operations in Kuching; Miri (39); Sarikei (13); Kota Samarahan (9); Limbang (11); Sibu (3), Betong (3); Bintulu (7); Serian (1) and Sri Aman (5).

He added that the department was assisted by Malaysian Civil Defense Force (APM), local authorities, Ministry of Health Malaysia, District Offices, Rela and auxiliary police.

In the same period, the department had also carried out 44 Humanitarian and Disaster Relief missions in the state.
