SIBU: Unlicensed hawkers, petty traders and eatery food stall operators here can now download the permit application forms via Sibu Municipal Council (SMC)’s website, to qualify for the special grants under state government’s Sarawakku Sayang Assistance Package 2.0.

SMC chairman Clarence Ting says the website also lists guidelines for the application of these permits, as well as the criteria of eligibility for the Sarawakku Sayang aid.

Among the criteria are each trader must be a Sarawakian residing and trading in Sarawak, and is aged 18 years and above.

The applicant must be a genuine trader, who has been personally and physically operating a stall, a kiosk, or an outlet before April 1 this year – those setting up business after this date do not qualify.

Those manning stalls inside coffee-shops are also eligible for the application, as long as they have all the necessary documentation.

Those running online businesses, however, are not included.

The deadline for the application of the permit is this May 31.

It is stated that the validity of the permit is from April to September this year – the permit fee of RM30 per month would be waived during this Movement Control Order (MCO) period.

The Sarawakku Sayang Assistance Package 2.0 is focused on small and medium enterprises (SMEs) including the hawkers and petty traders.

The special grant of RM1,500, to be distributed via Sarawak Pay, should benefit over 65,000 petty traders and hawkers throughout Sarawak.

The overall cost of the grant, to be borne by Sarawak government, is RM98.4 million.

Eligible hawkers and petty traders who have yet to have Sarawak Pay account, can download the e-wallet app into their smartphones via Apple Store or Google Play Store.
