KUCHING:  Old Marian Association #JagaSamaDirik project has expanded to include sanitary pads supply for needy girls and women during the Movement Control Order (MCO).

Association member, Jasmine Wong said the project initially focused on making and distributing PPE then food before realising the need for sanitary protection which prompted a donation drive.

“Just as it is hard for many families to find cash for food it is also hard for the girls and women in such families to be able to spend on sanitary pads,” she said in a press statement issued yesterday.

Meanwhile, Sarawak Women for Women Society (SWWS) which had anticipated the need but lacked the means to collect and distribute was delighted to help raise funds from members and friends to  reach 250 women and girls.

“This is not enough to fill the need. I hope other organisations would follow their lead and donate besides including women’s sanitary protection when delivering essential food to the various communities scattered across the state,” said SWWS president Margaret Bedus.

To donate to Old Marian Association for the project, contact Jasmine Wong at 012-8286218 or just drop off sanitary pads and/or panty liners at the entrance of Creative Heritage Innovation Centre (CHIC) at Bangunan Yayasan, Jalan Masjid Kuching from 9am to 3pm daily.

Donations may be deposited to Persatuan Bekas Pelajar St Mary RHB a/c no 21101600086818 with deposit slip sent to [email protected].
