KUCHING: Lions Club of Kuching Stampin-Pending and New Century Lions Club of Kuching Emerald jointly handed over 201 sets of medical scrubs to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) on Wednesday.

“The project started in early April with the organising committee handing over the first batch of 150 sets of medical scrubs to the SGH representative on April 14 followed by a second batch of 201 sets of medical scrubs on May 6,” said a Lions statement on Thursday.

The statement pointed out that the collaborative project to fabricate suitable and comfortable medical scrubs for SGH is a timely to help medical frontliners in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic.

A project coordinator Lou Jia Ying, who is president of Lions Club of Kuching Stampin-Pending, described volunteering to help SGH as “giving a great sense of purpose”.

“Frontline health workers are striving to keep us safe during this difficult period of time. As a token of appreciation to their selfless contribution, we wish to reciprocate by showing our care and support to them in a practical way.”

Lou said they were blessed to receive strong support from many good Samaritans, lions clubs members, friends and sponsors who contributed selflessly to make the project a success.

“The way our Kuching communities are pulling together to help protect those fighting coronavirus on the frontline is astonishing. Everyone wants to contribute regardless of whether it is big or small.

“In this difficult time, all of us can play a part in helping our frontliners in this Covid-19 battle, by staying at home, keeping proper social distancing, and not to forget to express our sincere appreciation, care and support towards our frontline warriors at SGH,” Lou added.
