MIRI: National petroleum corporation Petronas, through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm Yayasan Petronas and its subsidiary Petronas Dagangan Bhd, recently contributed food aid worth RM144,000 to 900 deserving families here under its signature ‘Sentuhan Kasih’ programme.

Food items such as rice, milk, oil, eggs, canned foodstuff and flour were distributed through the Welfare Department (JKM) to families in Lutong, Senadin, Kuala Baram, Tudan, Piasau, Kampung Pujut Padang Kerbau, Kampung Wireless, Riam, Krokop, Taman Tunku and Lopeng.

The recipients also received ‘Petronas Mesra’ gift cards, which could be used to purchase essential food items from Petronas stations here.

Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd-Sarawak Oil senior general manager Morris Mail said the initiative is meant to help these families celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Gawai Dayak in a meaningful way this year.

“In commemorating the spirit of sharing and giving during these festivities, we are grateful for the opportunity to provide some assistance to the families here, whose lives have been affected by the challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.

The ‘Sentuhan Kasih’ programme is part of Yayasan Petronas’ CSR programmes activated during major festive seasons in Malaysia.
