BINTULU: Most shopping malls here have started full operations since yesterday in accordance with Sarawak Disaster Management Committee’s (SDMC) standard operating procedure (SOP).

The Bintulu Disaster Management Committee has received over 700 letters of notification as of Tuesday, before they were allowed to open for business.

The Spring Shopping Mall here was one those which reopened to the public yesterday.

Its manager Angelyne Kho said tenants were responsible to ensure they are complying with the SOP while the mall’s new normal SOP had also been circulated among the tenants.

She said the new normal SOP is comprehensive; covering the mall staff, tenants, shoppers, contractors, and suppliers.

The mall opens to the public from 10am to 8pm daily.

Parkcity Shopping Mall is also back in business since Tuesday with daily operating hours from 9am to 6pm.

To ensure the safety of everyone, all visitors and employees are required to wear face masks and have their temperature checked before entering the mall.

“In the past few weeks during the MCO, we have been stepping up our safety and hygiene measures to create a better and safer environment for everyone.

“The entire shopping mall has been disinfected by our appointed licensed specialist in order to keep everyone safe and have better shopping experience,” the mall management said.

Times Square Megamall also resumed full operations yesterday with opening hours from 10am to 8pm.

However, only the entrance from Tai Kwong Supermarket will be used during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) period.

Its management said the mall would be implementing strict preventive and control measures in and around the mall, and advised shoppers to continue to be mindful of hygiene and social distancing to keep everyone safe.

Commerce Square Mall also resumed operations on Tuesday from 10am to 8pm daily.

However, the management said several businesses were still prohibited from operating during the CMCO, such as entertainment centres, cinemas, reflexology centres, hair and beauty saloons.

Routine disinfection work is being carried out by the mall’s management.
