Covid-19: One new positive case recorded in Sarawak today, Sibu now yellow zone

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded one new Covid-19 positive case today, bringing the cumulative total tally to 571, said Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

SDMC chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the latest Covid-19 positive case was reported in Sibu.

He said that this changed the status of Sibu from a green zone to a yellow zone.

As of today, three districts in Sarawak were categorised as yellow zones while the remaining 37 districts maintained as green zones.

The three yellow zones are Kuching, Bintulu and Sibu.

“Case 571 involves a 32-year-old local male who returned from the United Kingdom on June 17. He landed at KLIA on June 17 via a flight from London and came back to Sarawak through Sibu Airport on June 18 and he is undergoing home quarantine in Sibu,” he said in the daily update statement.

Uggah said Sarawak recorded no new recovered and discharged cases today, maintaining the cumulative total of recoveries and discharged cases at 537, or with a recovery rate of 94.05 per cent.

He said a total of 17 individuals are still being treated at the isolation wards while the fatality cases maintained at 17.

He added that the state reported 19 person-under-investigation (PUI) cases, four of which are awaiting laboratory test results.
