KOTA KINABALU: Sabah recorded one new cholera case in Semporna on Sunday, bringing the state’s tally to 23.

State Health Department director Datuk Dr Christina Rundi said five of the cases in Sabah were asymptomatic, including four in Semporna and one in Kinabatangan.

“Asymptomatic cases are individuals who tested positive for cholera through rectal swab but do not show any symptoms.

“However, they are still able to infect others like symptomatic cases,” she said in a statement on Sunday.

Out of the 23 cases in Sabah, 10 are in Kota Kinabalu, eight in Semporna, four in Beaufort, two each in Kinabatangan and Putatan, and one each in Tuaran and Sipitang.
