KALABAKAN: Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) Wira of Kalabakan division firmly supports the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Mohd Shafie Apdal.
Sabah Heritage Hero Exco and Kalabakan Parliamentary Division chief Mohd Afsar Abd Latif said the support of members of the Wira Kalabakan included Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s proposal to appoint Shafie as the ninth Malaysian prime minister.
“We remain loyal to Warisan and strongly support that Shafie to hold the number one position as he is experienced in holding important national posts and representing the country internationally,” he said after chairing a meeting of the Wira Kalabakan Welfare Committee here on Sunday.
Afsar said the meeting was to discuss important issues, particularly those involving the Sayap Wira Kalabakan.
“The meeting also agreed to continue to work hard to strengthen the party and support the leadership of the Warisan chairman,” he added.
Afsar also called on Sabah leaders, including those from the Sabah opposition party to forego political difference to support Shafie’s candidacy.
“The appointment is an ideal opportunity and solution to address the various issues in Sabah, especially the rights of the people as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963.
“Any leader from Sabah who is nominated to hold the country’s number one position should be given the support to restore Sabah’s rights,” he said.
