KUCHING: Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong calls for a new hospital to be built at Sungai Asap, Apo Kayan in Belaga as the Kapit Hospital cannot accommodate the increasing number of patients.
“Apart from that, there is also a need for the Klinik Ng Mujong, Ng Giat and Sg Tunoh, Klinik Tubau, Klinik Ng Merit to be upgraded immediately,” he said when presenting a motion of thanks to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the debate on the Royal Address at the Dewan Rakyat sitting in Putrajaya yesterday.
He also touched on the need for continuous development of digital infrastructure in the state’s rural areas such as Hulu Rajang.
“I do not want an incident like what happened in Sabah where a student had to climb up a tree to get better internet connection just so she could sit for her online examinations.
“Such things should not have happened especially when we are now moving towards the Industrial Revolution 4.0,” he said.
He thus called on the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia to consider providing additional telecommunication towers in his parliamentary constituency by using solar energy to ensure that electricity supply for the telecommunication towards is always sufficient.
He also said he will be writing to the Communications and Multimedia Minister to inform him of areas which are in need of telecommunication towers including Long Busang and Long Jaweh, Belaga; Rumah Melintang, Sg Gaat, Kapit; Punan Sama and Punan Biau, Belaga; Nanga Merirai, Batang Baleh, Kapit; Rumah Derick, Ulu Jelalong, Tubau; SK Lubok Mawang, Majau, Kapit; and Klinik Nanga Melinau, Sg Mujong, Kapit.
