Yayasan Petronas donates hand sanitisers, dispensers to schools

KUCHING: Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas), through Yayasan Petronas recently donated hand sanitisers and manual dispensers to 11 schools in Miri and Bintulu with 16,634 students to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

The items were handed over to the Districts’ Education Department for distribution to SMK Lutong, SMK Tudan, SMK Senadin, SJK Chung Hua, Lutong and SJK Chung Hua, Pujut in Miri, as well as SK Tanjung Batu, SK Kidurong, SK Kidurong II, SMK Kidurong, SMK Asyakirin and Vocational College in Bintulu.

Petronas Sarawak general manager Zulaihi Mantali said the national oil company remained committed in helping communities in areas of its operations.

“We encourage the practice of proper hand hygiene amongst students, teachers, staff and visitors following the reopening of the schools. We hope our contribution would help reduce the risk of contracting Covid-19 in line with the government’s target of minimising the number of new cases,” said Zulaihi.

Yayasan Petronas had also donated hand sanitisers and dispensers to primary and secondary schools in Johor, Kedah, Labuan, Melaka, Perak, Sabah and Terengganu, through the respective state education departments

The initiative is part of its RM20 million aid to hospitals, healthcare front-liners and high-risk groups to mitigate the spread of Covid-19 in line with Petronas’ Sustainability Agenda and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 focussing on healthy lives and promoting well-being for all.
