Donors wait to donate plasma to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

KUCHING: A total of 500 people who recovered from Covid-19 have donated plasma to Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) in the hope of developing a vaccine for the virus and a therapeutic agent.

In a statement, Shincheonji Church of Jesus in South Korea said an official discussion was held in June for a plasma donation and KCDC then announced in July that they would support three Korean Red Cross plasma collection buses to get the plasma donation from 500 people.

“A total of 500 people from the church participated in the plasma donation through the Korean National Red Cross vehicles deployed at the front gate of Gyeongbuk National University Hospital (in Daegu, South Korea)  for five days from July 13 to 17.”

As South Korea was experiencing a major crisis of Covid-19, the congregants of the Shincheonji church decided not to take transportation fee provided to plasma donors.

“We pray sincerely for the plasma donated to serve as an opportunity of development to take a step further to end Covid-19 in the Republic of Korea and all around the world,” said the church in a statement.”
