383 individuals detained yesterday for violating RMCO — Ismail Sabri

KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) detained 383 people for violating the Movement Control Order (MCO) on Sunday, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

In a statement yesterday, Ismail Sabri said of this number, 32 people were remanded while 351 were issued compounds.

“Among the offences include pub or club activities (328 individuals) and activities involving the presence of many people, making social distancing difficult, and activities which violate the standard operating procedure (SOP) (55 people).

On the Compliance Operations Task Force, he said the PDRM had conducted 61,907 checks to monitor and enforce SOP compliance with the Recovery MCO (RMCO).

On the Benteng Operations to guard the borders from illegal immigrants and curb the spread of Covid-19, Ismail Sabri said 14 foreigners were detained yesterday for immigration offences.

In the operations, 65 roadblocks were held and 36,001 vehicles checked to stop the entry of illegal immigrants especially at rat trails.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said as of yesterday, 1,062 Malaysians have returned home through the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and KLIA2 from Indonesia, Taiwan, Qatar, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Singapore, Australia, the Philippines, New Zealand, China, Hong Kong and Egypt.

“1,061 individuals were ordered to undergo compulsory home quarantine, while one person was sent to the hospital,” he said.

He added that PDRM has also carried out 1,365 checks on people on compulsory quarantine and all were found to have complied with the SOP.

Ismail Sabri also said the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) has directed 19 construction sites to be closed and 541 other construction sites issued warnings for not complying with the SOP. — Bernama
