MIRI: A farmer discovered the body of a man, believed to be a foreigner, in a hut at the farm in Kampung Beraya, Miri-Bintulu coastal road on Thursday.

Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah said the body was found lying in the hut around 7.30am.

“The farm owner said upon his arrival at the farm hut that morning, he discovered that the door of the hut was open wide.

“Upon inspection, he found a man wearing just his underwear lying inside,” said Lim.

He said Miri Hospital personnel conducted a check and an initial investigation revealed no foul play as there were no injuries on the body.

Nothing suspicious was found at the hut or the surrounding area.

“We believe that the man is a foreigner, based on the absence of a BCG (tuberculosis) vaccination mark on his body. Police have classified the case as sudden death,” Lim added.

It is understood that the farmer is at the farm every day from around 6.30am to 6.30pm and the hut door is never locked.

Before leaving his farm on Wednesday, the farmer did not see the deceased, whom he did not recognise.

The body was later taken to Miri Hospital for a post-mortem.
