MIRI: Penans of Long Tujang and Long Buang in Telang Usan constituency here recently donated some cash to the national Covid-19 Fund.

Telang Usan Assemblyman Dennis Ngau received the donation during a visit to the villages recently.

“During the visit, I updated them on Covid-19 pandemic as well as the government effort in setting up Covid-19 Fund. The villagers passed the hat around and raised RM293.60 which will be deposited into the Covid-19 Fund at Bank Muamalat,” he said.

Both Penan villages are located about a four-hour drive on a logging road from Miri city.

“Though the amount is relatively small I know you donated what you could to support the fight against Covid-19.

“With inconsistent income, I believe your heartfelt contribution to this fund means a lot to front liners risking health, safety and life in the fight against the pandemic,” stated Dennis with gratitude.

Dennis reminded the villagers to adhere strictly to Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) to keep the villages safe and hoped the country would not experience another round of strict MCO which put everyone in difficulties.

Long Tujang village chief TK Alung Jok handed over the donation to Dennis on behalf of the two villages.
