According to Miri Residents Committee (RC) chairman, Malateh Mahmud, patrol members on their way to mosque for Friday prayers spotted the girl in the area around 10.40am.

Worried for the safety of the toddler, they informed the police who arrived and recorded details of the lost girl.

“The girl was taken to the house of a Miri RC patrol member who posted her photo on social media to locate her parents or guardian.

“A man who saw the post went to the patrol member’s house and took them to the girl’s house which is located some 500m from where she was found.

“The girl has returned to her family, safe and sound,” said Malateh when contacted yesterday.

“This is the second such incident. The first occurred two days earlier and she was also been sent home,” added Malateh.

It was learned that the girl is living with her elder sister and their widowed mother.
