MIRI (Aug 7): Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak chairman Larry Sng has disagreed with Datuk Abdul Karim Hamzah’s opinion that the state government has resolved the offers raised in its election manifesto for the 12th state election.

Sng said that the Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister was unaware that many of the items listed in PKR’s manifesto had yet to be realised under the previous Barisan Nasional (BN) and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) state governments.

“Many rural constituencies are still without basic amenities and public utilities like clean water and electricity. Perhaps Karim was referring to his constituency when he commented on those matters that have been resolved,” he said.

Sng said that this was the rationale of Pakatan Harapan stepping in to solve those issues for the people if PKR was in power.

Sng said this today in response to a report in a local news portal quoting Karim of accusing PKR Sarawak of trying to win sympathy from voters and raising out-dated issues in its manifesto for the next state election.

Karim, who is also PBB vice-president, had earlier dismissed the 10 ‘offers’ in the manifesto disclosed by PKR Sarawk information chief Abun Sui, saying that they had already been fulfilled by the state government.

He accused PKR Sarawak of running out of ideas in garnering support and had to resort to making offers which were already carried out by the government for a long time.
