KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 286 individuals were detained on Sunday for non-compliance of the Movement Control Order (MCO), said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said of these, 44 people were remanded while 242 were issued compounds.
“Among the offences were failure to provide the device or notification of exit and entry (34), premises which operated beyond their hours (four), not wearing masks (35), and activities involving large numbers of people making social distancing difficult (213),” he said yesterday.
On Ops Benteng, Ismail Sabri said the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) had set up 53 roadblocks throughout the country on Sunday and inspected 19,355 vehicles to curb the entry of illegal immigrants, especially along rat trails, and no arrests were made.
He added that from July 24 until Aug 16, a total of 12,063 people returned home from overseas through international gates and were placed in 61 hotels and five Public Training Institutes.
“Of this total, 43 individuals were sent to the hospital for treatment and 4,886 people were discharged and allowed to go home,” he said.
He said the PDRM also conducted 362 checks on individuals who were undergoing compulsory quarantine in their own homes and all complied with the standard operating procedure.
Ismail Sabri also said the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs conducted daily checks of 12 goods in 706 business premises, including 526 retailers, 150 wholesalers and 30 factories.
“In general, the supply of essentials is sufficient and can continue to support the country’s needs and are easily obtained.
“The ministry’s enforcement officers also conducted 1,160 special checks on RMCO SOP compliance and found 1,157 premises which complied with the SOP while three premises were advised as they did not meet the conditions for compliance,” he said. — Bernama
