SIBU: This year’s BB Love Box project targets 20,000 gifts of disposable medical face masks, says The Boys’ Brigade Sarawak Social Welfare & Community service chairman Sim Tze Sian.

He pointed out that the medical face masks would be distributed in Kuching, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Song, Bintulu, Miri and Limbang.

“The beneficiaries are from the rural areas identified by the Welfare Department and social organisations such as homes for the elderly, orphanages, and dialysis centres (across Sarawak).

“BB Love Box is not only sharing love with the needy but also increasing awareness during Covid-19 pandemic,” Sim told a press conference here yesterday afternoon.

Also present were The Boys’ Brigade Sarawak deputy state commissioner Guang Chin Tung, state social welfare & community service coordinator Lawrence Ling and Sibu Division Bodybuilding and Weightlifting Association (SDBWA) president Chia Soon Cheong among others.

BB Love Box is a community project that collects and distributes gifts to the needy during Christmas regardless of race or religion since 2012.

In the past eight years, 63,000 gifts have been distributed with 20,000 collected last year.

“We welcome and appreciate donors, sponsors and members of the public for their generosity and support,” Sim added.

The same function saw SDBWA donating 200 boxes of face masks to the project.

Meanwhile, members of the public can donate cash by depositing to Maybank account: 5110 5665 8598 (The Boys’ Brigade in Malaysia – SRDC) or contribute face masks to support BB Love Box.
