Two ‘Datuk’ brought to court for remand in MACC’s Sarawak rural road case (Video)

KUCHING (Sept 9): Two company directors with ‘Datuk’ title, who were arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on suspicion of submitting false claims involving a road project worth RM800 million, were brought to the Magistrate’s Court here today to be remanded.

The remand order is sought to enable the MACC to conduct an investigation into the case involving 10 road upgrading works in Miri, Kapit, Ba Kelalan, Limbang and Belaga.

The directors, aged between 42 and 44 years old, were arrested in during a special operation yesterday.

It is understood that the two directors will be investigated under Section 16(b), 17(a) and Section 18 of the MACC Act, 2009.

Earlier, the directors, who were escorted by MACC personnel, arrived at the Magistrate’s Court here at around 9.44am.

They will appear before Magistrate Zubaidah Sarkawi.
