KAPIT: Hundreds of people from all walks of lives here welcomed home Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi upon arrival at the Kapit Terminal here on Thursday.

Leading the welcoming party was Kapit District Officer Cerisologo Sabut who is also the event organising chairman.

In the evening there was a thanksgiving dinner at the residence of Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr Leonard Linggi Jugah in Jalan Puan Sri Tiong.

Hulu Rajang MP Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong, Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang, Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit and state director of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Datu Stanley Tan were among the guests.

Speaking at the dinner, Nanta said he had been absent from his Kapit constituency for quite sometime due to the Covid-19 fear since March, and his ministerial duty all over the country

In his absence, he said Jamit had helped to look after Kapit while Song was taken care of by his political secretary Lidam Asam and his personal assistant Ambrose Abong Bugek.

“I am very happy that during my long absence there was no major issue here because the people of Kapit and Song understand my commitment and responsibility.

“Now that we are in the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) mode I will have more time to be back in my constituency to serve the people,” he said.

On the ministry’s activities in Kapit, he said the four-day ‘Consumers’ Carnival and Buy Malaysia Products’ is now on at the ground of Fort Sylvia.

“There is also the ‘Malaysia Mega Sale’,” he said.
