KUCHING: The usage of face masks has been made compulsory in the country for those who venture out of their home to protect them against Covid-19.
World Health Organisation has been promoting the usage of face masks to guard against the Covid-19 and it is highly recommended for face masks to be worn by the public when using public transportation or in confined spaces to minimise the risk of exposure.
As the public is understandably demanding for the best quality and halal face masks for their family members, a businessman known as Datuk K Karthigeyan has decided to import face masks that have been certified by an international halal certification body recognised by the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim).
Karthigeyan said he was called upon to make halal face masks readily available to the Muslim community in the country in order to ease their concerns of using face masks without knowing the source of materials used.
“For the non-Muslims, they are also well aware that when a product is certified as halal, it means they are clean and purified.” he added.
He said the uniqueness of the face masks is that they are made by Xiamen Huacheng High-Tech Textile Co Ltd in China and the manufacturing process and sourcing of raw materials are from a single factory.
“There are factory operators who utilise raw materials of unknown sources from other factories but the face masks I imported, the entire process is being conducted at the same factory and the public no longer has to worry about its quality.”
At the same time, Karthigeyan said the factory and face masks have been audited by ARA Halal Certification Services Centre Inc (ARA) which is a foreign certification body that is recognised by Jakim.
He added a majority of the cheap face masks that are currently being sold in the market are of poor quality and they may not fulfil the required quality standards set out.
“It is important for us to produce quality three-ply face masks in accordance with the specifications recommended by the Ministry of Health and World Health Organisation.”
Karthigeyan pointed out that the KN95 face masks produced at Xiamen Huacheng High-Tech Textile Co Ltd have a bacterial filtration efficiency of 98.7 per cent and particle filtration efficiency of 94.2 per cent.
“Our aim is to provide face masks that are of quality and halal to the market. Starting at RM25 per box for three-ply face masks, the public now has the option to purchase quality face masks at a reasonable price.”
The face masks manufactured at Xiamen Huacheng High-Tech Textile Co Ltd are divided into three categories, namely for adults, children and KN95 specifications.
