SDMC: 6 active Covid-19 clusters in state

KUCHING: There are currently six active Covid-19 clusters in Sarawak, with eight new cases recorded yesterday in the Wisma Saberkas Cluster, three in the Green Hill Cluster, and two in the Baki Cluster.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said in a statement that the total number of cases in the Wisma Saberkas Cluster was now 27 including the index cases.

“A total of 756 individuals in this cluster were screened with 686 were found negative and 43 are still awaiting results.

“As at noon today (Friday), all cases in this cluster receiving treatment in the isolation ward at the hospital are in stable condition,” it said.

SDMC said the Green Hill Cluster remains the biggest with a total of 67 positive cases including the index case.

Sixteen patients from this cluster have recovered and have been discharged from the hospital, while 51 cases who are still receiving treatment are reported to be in stable condition, it added.

“Out of a total of 875 individuals screened, 796 tested negative while 12 are still awaiting results.”

As for the Baki Cluster, the committee said the addition of the two new cases brought the total to 32 including the index case, but excluding the 12 cases detected and recorded in Perak.

“A total of 2,990 individuals from this cluster were screened with 2,958 found negative. As at noon today (yesterday), 25 from this cluster have recovered while seven in isolation wards are in stable condition,” it said.

The three other clusters in the state did not record new cases yesterday, with the Bah Arnab Cluster remaining at 12 cases including the index case; Seladah Cluster with seven cases including the index case; and the Putra Cluster in Bintulu with five cases including the index case.

Kuching District remains a Covid-19 red zone with a total of 135 locally transmitted cases reported in the last 14 days.

Miri, Lundu and Limbang districts remain yellow while 36 other districts in the state are green.
