divisions in the state prompting some of them to call for a ban on inter-division travel.

They are especially concerned about people from red zone areas like Kuching District travelling to their area.

A political secretary to chief minister Michael Tiang said yesterday, he had received several requests from residents here to urge the state government to reimpose the inter-division movement restrictions.

“In view of another spike of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak, Sibu people are worried that Sibu might be affected by the outbreak.

“Such concerns expressed by Sibu residents are understandable,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He believed Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) would only enforce inter-division movement restrictions if statistical information and analysis warrant the measure.

Although there is no such restriction now Tiang urged people here to avoid travelling outside their area.
