House hit by uprooted tree, no injuries reported

SARIKEI: A tree uprooted by strong wind yesterday afternoon shocked a family along Sare Road near here as it fell on their house.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the around 3.30pm incident as the tree fell slowly before the top branches hit a corner of the house.

Fortunately, according to the house owner who sought the assistance of the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) to cut and clear the tree, their car parked beside the house was spared from any damage.

District Bomba chief Mahmudin Narudin said that a team of men was rushed to the scene upon receiving a distress call at 3.46pm.

His men took about 20 minutes to cut and clear the tree trunk and branches and clear the road, Narudin said, adding another team was dispatched to clear another uprooted tree which fell across a road in Bulat area.
