MARUDI: A total of 269 packs of food aid were distributed to nine longhouses and one primary school in the lower Baram zone affected by flooding this week.
A Welfare Department spokesperson said among the recipients were Rumah Chabop Diau, Lubok Aman (20); Rumah Ngelingkong ,Teran (41); Rumah George Jawa, Pengelayan (78); Rumah Budin Sandai, Asam Paya (20); Rumah Frederick Belaja (21); Rumah Nawah, Ujung Daun (45); Rumah Asam, Sungai
Pedada (15); Rumah Mekal Mundam, Sungai Putat (11); and SK Pengelayan (18).
In the Tutoh region, aid also went to Long Panai longhouse (129), Long Panai Health Clinic (7); and SMK Tutoh Apoh (9).
The aid was distributed by the Welfare Department, Fire and Rescue Department, People’s Volunteer Corps, and the police.
The aid was brought to the affected areas by boat.
