MIRI: Mirians must take the local Covid-19 infection seriously as the city is now a Yellow Zone, following
the report of five positive cases.

“We must stay alert as we have a local cluster now in the city,” said Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Sebastian Ting at a ‘Leader with the People’ event in Kampung Lereng Bukit community hall here yesterday.

Ting, who is Piasau assemblyman, said it was crucial all cityfolk to play their part in stopping the chain of Covid-19 infection.

“I think all of us need to be very vigilant and play our part so that we can fight this pandemic together.”

He advised everyone to postpone their travel plans and not to return to their hometowns and villages – unless it was highly necessary.

He said for the time being, it would be better to stay safely at home, continue to practise high-level personal hygiene, maintain at least one-metre of physical distancing from each other, and wearing face masks at public areas.

Meanwhile at a separate event here, Ting reminded members of the public to not go
out as ‘one big family’, as a measure to minimise exposure to Covid-19 infection.

He said everyone’s health must be top priority and it was very important for everyone to not go to crowded places during this time.

Ting said this at the Miri City Women Caring Association’s annual general meeting at Dynasty Miri Hotel,
where the association’s chairwoman Kapitan Betty Pong was present.

Adding on, Ting said for the parents having to go out for grocery-shopping, they must not bring along their children.
