KUCHING: The 13th Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment (RAMD) conducted a gotong-royong session under Ops Murni with the villagers of Kampung Hilir, Sri Aman, where four houses were razed to the ground in a fire on Saturday (Jan 16).

A First Infantry Division (1 Div) spokesperson said the 13th RAMD team, consisting one officer and 16 personnel, also helped surrounding

villages affected by the recent floods.

The soldiers returned yesterday (Jan 19) to deliver food aid and used clothing to the fire and flood victims.

Separately, another group of 30 army personnel and two officers from the 10th Battalion Royal Ranger Regiment (RRD) led by Major Sebastian Banjar helped to clean St Pio’s Catholic Church together with the residents of Kampung Selabi Entukuh in Serian.

The whole village, including the church, was also affected by flooding recently.

The spokesperson said the army is always committed and ready to help the public and government agencies who need assistance.
