MIRI: Miri City Council (MCC) will carry out general cleaning at Miri Central Market here on Thursday (Jan 21) once the market upgrading work is completed.

Mayor Adam Yii said the work was necessary as the market would resume business operation the next day (Jan 22).

“Most of renovation works inside the markets have been completed. The contractor is finishing work on the perimeter drains,” he said after inspecting the upgrading work yesterday.

He added the MCC would also change fans in the market as well as doing some minor touch-ups.

The market was temporarily close from Dec 21 last year to allow for renovation and upgrading works.

The council also has a plan to upgrade the Unity Food Centre here after the Chinese New Year celebrations.
