KUCHING: Welfare volunteer organisations in the state which qualify for the Welfare Volunteer Organisation Grant can still apply as the funds are still available.

Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said they could apply by downloading the forms at the Welfare Department’s official website or obtain a hard copy at the divisional Welfare Department office. The completed forms can be sent to the nearest Welfare Department office.

“The grant allocation is RM3 million for 2021, more than last year’s. Each application will be considered by the committee,” said Fatimah at the presentation of Welfare Volunteer Organisation grant to Society of the Blind Sarawak yesterday.

More than 200  welfare volunteer organisations throughout the state benefited from the grant last year.

She said that the grant in the form of cash could attract more community participation in volunteerism, and also to cover part of costs of running activities for the target groups.

The Society for the Blind Sarawak received RM20,000 for 2014, RM16,000 for 2015, RM25,000 for 2016, and RM20,000 for last year.
