Ting delivers his remarks for the inaugural 2020 Sarawak Entrepreneurs Competition.

SIBU: The just-concluded 2020 Sarawak Entrepreneurs Competition served as a viable platform for local youths to showcase their interest in entrepreneurship, said Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Sebastian Ting.

The inaugural event, which was conducted virtually, involved over 60 young entrepreneurs from Kuching, Miri and Sibu.

The competition was jointly organised and run by Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation Bhd, Startup Entrepreneur Association Sarawak and PLUX Incubation Hub.

“This competition has provided an avenue for budding entrepreneurs to realise their dreams of taking their start-up business to the next level – this is a good start.

“Our youths are the future of Sarawak and I hope that this competition could continue to be run as an annual event, with full support from the state government to the organisers,” said Ting.

On the participants, he said they had not only gained more entrepreneurial ideas, but also enhanced their networking by ‘making new friends’.

“In life, we always encounter challenges, but we need to be calm and always stand up to overcome all kinds of obstacles.

“The KFC founder had also encountered many obstacles before enjoying the fruits of his labour.

“The only way to success is to keep your pace steady and move forward.

“Every failure triggers success,” added Ting.
