Covid-19: Malaysia records 3,731 new daily cases with 15 deaths

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 7): Malaysia added another 3,731 Covid-19 cases today, bringing the total number of infected in the country to 51,241.

Out of that total, eight were imported cases while the rest were local transmissions.

There were 15 deaths today, bringing the total death toll to 872.

Selangor led the nation with 1,606 cases followed by Johor (499 cases), Kuala Lumpur (372 cases). Melaka (313 cases), Penang (250 cases), Sarawak (219 cases), Sabah (160 cases), Negri Sembilan (92 cases), Perak (71 cases), Kedah (43 cases), Pahang (34 cases), Kelantan (32 cases), Terengganu (29 cases), Putrajaya (9 cases) and Perlis (2 cases).

“From the 15 deaths, four were in Selangor, three in Kuala Lumpur and Sabah, two in Sarawak and one each in Penang, Kedah and Johor,” health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement today.

“All deceased were Malaysian citizens.”

The youngest fatality was an 18-year-old who was suffering from asthma. Her body was taken to Hospital Selayang.

The oldest fatalities were a 94-year-old woman who died at Hospital Serdang and a 93-year-old man with a heart condition and high blood pressure who died at Hospital Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim in Kulai, Johor.

Apart from that there were 3,369 recoveries while 292 individuals are in the internal care unit with 240 breathing through the ventilator. – Malay Mail
