Police roadblocks in place at Phase 2 of Sentosa Resettlement Scheme for EMCO, residents cooperating

SIBU (Feb 27): A total of 39 personnel from the police, army and People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) will be stationed at roadblocks throughout Phase 2 of the Sentosa Resettlement Scheme here which has come under the Enhancement Movement Control Order (EMCO) from today until March 12, said Sibu police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit.

He added the residents were cooperating with the authorities with regards to the compliance.

“We are completely blocking those areas (under EMCO to prevent people from entering and exiting,” Stanley told The Borneo Post when met after the vaccination programme at Lanang Health Clinic here today.

The police chief was accompanied by his deputy Superintendent Collin Babat and OCS (officer-in-charge) of Lanang police station, sub inspector (SI) Devaraj Subramaniam, to visit the roadblocks in Sentosa.

On Thursday night, Sibu Divisional Disaster Management Committee (SDDMC) stated that the EMCO would be enforced in Phase 2 of Sentosa Resettlement Scheme here from 12.01am Feb 27 up to 11.59pm, March 12.

SDDMC had pointed out that the decision to impose the EMCO with the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee’s (SDMC) approval was due to the high number of Covid-19 cases in the area.

Sentosa Resettlement Scheme, phase two, covers Jalan Sentosa, Jalan Sentosa Timur and Lorong Sentosa Utara 7.

Councillor Nazatusyima Bujang had urged folk in Phase 2 of Sentosa Resettlement Scheme here have been urged to give full cooperation to ensure the success of EMCO implemented to curb the spread of Covid-19 in that area.

Nazatusyima, who is the zone councillor for Sentosa area, had stressed that parents would need to keep an eye on their children to ensure they stay indoors during the EMCO period.
