SIBU: Sibu Division Disaster Management Committee coordinator Dr Annuar Rapaee urges people to be wary of unverified news circulating in social media on Covid-19 cases here.

“The wise thing to do is to wait for official announcement from the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC),” he said.

He stated that fake news have been circulating in Sibu from early this year causing panic, with the latest WhatsApp message yesterday claiming 459 cases in the state and 340 cases in Sibu.

“This is not funny but a serious matter. Do not confuse the people.  My advice is stop spreading and do not believe fake news,” he added during his daily Facebook live stream Covid-19 update in Sibu yesterday.

Meanwhile, yesterday Sibu recorded 104 cases with 52 cases in Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) area, 36 cases in Sibujaya and 16 cases in Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) area.
