KUCHING (Feb 28): Sarawakians with comorbidity histories and are eligible to receive their Covid-19 vaccines for Phase II of the Sarawak vaccination programme don’t have to bring additional supporting medical documents other than their MyKad when they are called for vaccination, said Sarawak Health Director Dr Chin Zin Hing.

He said the verification processes have already been done after they register for the vaccination programme in their MySejahtera smartphone app or after making their appointments manually at government clinics or district offices.

“Those using the MySejahtera app would need to answer the eligibility questions in the app thus they do not need to bring any extra (supporting) documents (when called for vaccination). Furthermore during the vaccination, our staff will do health screening to all recipients,” said Dr Chin.

The only things they have to prepare when contacted would be a date when they would be free to receive their vaccines and the preferred vaccination centre if needed, he added.

He said those with comorbidity and think they are qualified to receive the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine but have not yet registered, should do so through MySejahtera smartphone app or go to the nearest government health facilities or district offices.

“Some clinics will be asking for their (recipients) readiness for the vaccination, and advice will be given to them through their MySejahtera app. Or should the person do not have the app, their names will be listed manually,” said Dr Chin.

Asked on the eligibility of those who have recovered from Covid-19, Dr Chin said they are eligible to receive the vaccines because one should be vaccinated regardless if one already had Covid-19 or not.

“That’s because we do not yet know how long one is protected from getting Covid-19 again after recovering from it,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Chin said for the first shipment of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccines, Sarawak is targeting 11,700 recipients to complete the immunisation of the first dose within five days which began on Feb 26.

Their second dose due after 21 days would also to be completed within five days, he added.
