MIRI (Feb 28): Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak leadership council (MPN) vice chairman Roland Engan said they will continue to remain and support the party to ensure that it can continue to serve the people and has the needed strength for the coming election.

“PKR Baram and PKR Sarawak would like to wish all the best to (Julau MP) YB Larry Sng, who had stepped down as chairman of Sarawak Leadership Council and left the party.

“We appreciate all his sacrifices and contributions to the party throughout the party’s reconstruction period since a year ago,” he said in a press statement today.

The statement was issued after Sng stepped down as state PKR chief and left PKR to become a federal government-friendly independent.

“We will remain fighting alongside our president and party, as well as continue to support the MPP and MPN in strengthening the party and serving the people.

“This include helping the party prepare for the coming election, for the sake of our reformation agenda to bring justice to the people of Sarawak,” said Roland who is also PKR Baram chief.

He said they will decide on the best formula to continue the party’s works and will not let the vacant MPN chairman post becomes an obstacle for the party to move forward.

“We will set the best formula to continue the party’s work and the vacant MPN chairman post will not threaten the work and integrity of PKR Sarawak,” he concluded.

Sng is said to have announced his resignation from the post during a video-conference on Saturday (Feb 27).

On Dec 21 last year, Sng announced that he was stepping down as Sarawak PKR chairman, a post which he took over in May after Selangau MP Baru Bian left the party.

He said this was to enable a Dayak leader to take over the post and lead the party in the coming Sarawak state election.
