MUKAH: Five Indonesians are now under police detention following an operation conducted on an unnumbered residential unit at Sungai Liuk in Balingian late Saturday.

In the 9pm raid, police found three homemade air-rifles and several other items at the property, said Mukah District police chief DSP Jimmy Panyau.

“We conducted inspection on the house, where there were four Indonesians – three men and a woman, aged between 19 and 31 – who did not have valid travel documents with them.

“We also found three homemade air rifles, two bottles of methanol and 20 marbles there – all confiscated by us,” he told Utusan Borneo yesterday.

Jimmy added that following initial interrogation, police arrested another Indonesian man, aged 23, at a nearby plantation at around 10.30pm.

“This last suspect admitted that all the firearms were his; that he made all of them.

“Like the other four suspects, he also did not have valid travelling documents on him,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 8(a) of Arms Act 1960, and Section 6(1)(c) of Immigration Act 1959/63 (Amendment 2002).
