MIRI: The Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (MDDMC) is satisfied with the level of compliance with the standard operating procedure (SOP) observed at the Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) at Jalan Kwangtung here.

However, Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin, who is the minister-in-charge of MDDMC, had also proposed for the centre to allocate larger entry and exit lanes.

He also called upon the building management to provide another unit of canopy for the people queuing and waiting outside UTC Miri, in adherence to the physical-distancing and crowd-prevention directives under the SOP.

The minister conducted inspection on UTC Miri yesterday to observe SOP compliance at various government departments and agencies operating there.

Joining him were Mayor Adam Yii, Miri Health officer
Dr P Raviwharmman, Miri Resident Office’s representative Rose Edward Tarang, and Miri District Office’s representative Siti Rohanie Yusof.

“Besides checking the operations of these agencies at UTC Miri, we also want to ensure that the SOP outlined by the authorities are strictly complied with,” said Lee, who is Senadin assemblyman.

UTC Miri reopened to the public in March 17 – its daily operating houses now are 8am to 5pm, including weekends.

Among the agencies operating in the centre are Service Sarawak, National Registration Department (NRD), Immigration Department, Road Transport Department and Inland Revenue Board – there is also a health clinic there.

Those intending to seek NRD and Immigration services must book online appointments with these two agencies prior to coming down to UTC Miri.

The appointments could be arranged via http://sto.imi.gov.my/e-temujanji/ (for Immigration services) and http://mytemujanji.jpn.gov.my/ (for NRD services).
