MIRI: Some 500 patients at Tudan Clinic have registered for the drive-thru pharmacy service since the new facility started operating on March 3 this year.

In stating this, Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin hailed the project as one that would help reduce exposure to Covid-19 infection among the patients at the health clinic.

“I’ve been told that some 500 patients have already registered for the drive-thru pharmacy service at Tudan Health Clinic; this would help a lot in reducing the congestion in this clinic,” he said in his address for the official opening of Tudan Health Clinic’s Drive-Thru Pharmacy yesterday, where Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Sebastian Ting, Miri Mayor Adam Yii and Tudan Health Clinic’s person-in-charge Dr Maurice Steve Urap were also present.

Lee, who is Senadin assemblyman, also thanked the Rotary Club of Miri Old Town and Advocates Association of Sarawak Miri Branch for coming forward with the financial support for the implementation of the drive-thru pharmacy.

He described the facility as being ‘very meaningful and beneficial’ towards minimising human physical contact and thus, reducing the Covid-19 infection risk.

At the same time Lee, who is also the minister-in-charge of Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (MDDMC), called upon the public to put their efforts together in preventing the spread of the coronavirus, pointing out that the success of the fight against Covid-19 greatly depended on close cooperation and support from everyone.

“We must start with ourselves and protect ourselves by complying strictly with the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP) which would help prevent us from getting infected.

“If you get infected, you’re going to infect others. Therefore, we must give strong emphasis on strictly observing the SOP.”

He also voiced his concern over some employees tending to forget the need for them to continue observing strict SOP at their workplace, particularly during breaks.

“Sometimes, the people follow the SOP at their workplace, but later on, they would get together during the tea-break by taking off their face masks and start chatting with one another.

“Having lunch together at the workplace’s pantry is considered a ‘social gathering’.

“Please don’t eat together – the recent emergence of two new clusters here was the result of such social gathering.”

The Tudan Health Clinic’s Drive-Thru Pharmacy is open from 8.30am until 4.30pm daily, from Monday to Friday – except on public holidays.

However, every Friday there would a short break (11.45am-2.15pm) – the service would resume at 2.15pm and running until 4.30pm.

The drive-thru pharmacy caters only to patients coming to collect balance medication – the first-time medication that they take must be collected at the clinic’s pharmacy counter, for counselling and assessment purposes.
