73 new Covid-19 cases in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah registered 73 new Covid-19 cases and two new clusters on Saturday, said State Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun.

Masidi, who is the state’s official Covid-19 spokesman revealed that Tawau recorded the highest number of cases with 35 followed by Keningau (12) and Kota Kinabalu (11).

“The two new clusters detected yesterday were the Kubota Sentral Cluster in Tawau and Kampung Simpang Tiga Merotai Cluster in Kalabakan and Tawau,” he said in a statement.

The Kubota Sentral Cluster currently has nine cases. Its index case involved a 25-year-old man who works at a home equipment store.

Meanwhile, the Kg Simpang Tiga Merotai Cluster currently has 10 cases. Its index case originated from a wedding ceremony held at Kg Pasir Putih on March 17.

“No new Covid-19 deaths were recorded on Saturday,” added Masidi.

A total of 35 Covid-19 patients in Sabah recovered from the virus on Saturday.
