KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Education Department has given the guarantee that Malaysian school students do not need to get their birth certificate and MyKad certified by the National Registration Department (NRD).

Its director, Datuk Dr Misterine Radin said that instead the documents can be certified by civil servants holding Grade 41 and above.

She said that only non-citizen students are required to get their documents certified at any NRD branches.

Meanwhile, NRD director Khairrul Aminus Kamaruddin said that NRD Sabah welcomed the decision taken by the Sabah Education Department.

He also affirmed that only students who are non-citizens of the country will be required to get their documents certified by NRD.

“This cooperation is important in raising the quality of the service delivery to stakeholders, parents, students who are clients of NRD and the Education Department,” he said at the press conference held at the Education Department office in Penampang near here.

Misterine was represented by the deputy director of the State Education Department (School Management sector), Abidin Marjan.
