Man arrested in Bau after drugs found in his possession

KUCHING (May 11): A 30-year-old male suspect was arrested by the police at Kampung Seringguk in Bau when drugs believed to be syabu weighing 0.68 grammes were found in his possession at around 4pm yesterday.

Bau district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon in a statement said the suspect was arrested during a patrol conducted by the personnel from the district police’s Narcotics Crime Division after he was seen behaving in a suspicious manner in front of an unnumbered house in the village.

“A duffle bag was found during the inspection done on the suspect. Further inspection on the bag found a transparent packet filled with white crystals believed to be syabu,” he said, adding that the drugs, with estimated value of RM65, was also confiscated.

The suspect was also tested positive for Methamphetamine, he said.

Poge further revealed that the suspect from Kampung Buso, Bau did not have a past criminal record.

He said the suspect will be remanded today to enable the police for conduct an investigation.

The case will be investigated under Section 12 (2) and Section 15 (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
