In a statement, the committee said the latest cluster is a community cluster involving four families in Kampung Bako Hilir in Kuching district.

“This cluster’s index case is a 24-year-old woman.

“She was detected through a screening at the Petra Jaya Health Clinic, Kuching on April 29 and was confirmed positive for Covid-19 on April 30,” added the statement.

SDMC said that the index case, who is a housewife, had gotten the infection from the community and had spread the infection to family members and then to other residents through close and casual contacts.

The woman began experiencing signs and symptoms of infection on April 25.

“Upon further investigation and active case detection screening activities involving the woman’s family members and casual contacts, there was an addition of 17 Covid-19 positive cases with one new case reported today,” said SDMC.

SDMC also said that Kampung Bako Hilir will also be placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) from May 12 to 25 to curb the spread of Covid-19 infection.
