Bomba divers find drowning victim near Siburan water treatment plant

KUCHING (May 14): The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) successfully extricated the body of a man who drowned while swimming near the Siburan water treatment plant yesterday (May 13).

In a statement, the department said a call was received on the incident at 9.44am.

A team of divers was deployed to the scene to carry out a search and rescue operation.

The victim, identified as Bonnie Kota, 31, from Kampung Kujang Mawang, Tebedu, was found some seven metres from where he was last seen.

It is understood that the body was found submerged at a depth of around 2.1 metres.

The body was later handed over to the police for further action.
