Bau police nab two during roadblock for suspected drug possession

KUCHING (May 15): Two male suspects aged 28 and 21 years-old were arrested by the police for drug related activities during a roadblock at Jalan Bau-Serikin around 1.20pm yesterday.

Bau district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon who confirmed the arrest, adding that the police found a packet of substance believed to be syabu on one of the suspects, weighing 0.29 grammes.

“The drugs were found inside a small pouch that was held by the 28-year-old suspect in his hand,” said Poge in a statement.

He said both suspects were already acting suspiciously at the roadblock, prompting police personnel from the district’s Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department to quiz them further.

Both were then brought to the Bau District Police Headquarters for tests which showed positive for methamphetamine, Poge added.

He said both suspects will be investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

The 28-year-old who was found to be in possession of the drugs will also be investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Poge added that both suspects do not have a past criminal record.
