SDMC: Two more longhouses under EMCO

KUCHING (May 16): The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today declared the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) for two more longhouses after Covid-19 close contacts were detected there.

The affected longhouses are Rh Entingi Nanga Ingu Kabo Krian and Rh Engkabi Tingkat Seblak, Roban, both in Saratok District, to undergo EMCO from today until May 29.

At the same time, SDMC also ended the EMCO for four longhouses.

These longhouses are Rh Luni Jugah; Rh Manna Mulok; and Rh Nelson Chuat Galong in Mukah; and Rh Mut, Nangga Maong, Sungai Mujok in Julau.

On another note, SDMC said the police have issued 21 compounds for standard operating procedure (SOP) violations statewide over the past 24 hours.

It said 10 were issued in Serian, four in Kuching, three in Mukah, three in Bintulu and one in Padawan.

SDMC stated that 10 of the compounds were issued to individuals involved in a cock-fighting activity, four for not observing social distancing, three for not wearing face masks, two for loitering outside after 10pm, one for violating Bintulu’s additional SOP which was going fishing, and one for not updating a customer check-in log book.

“This makes the total amount of police compounds that have been issued since March 18, 2020 till now at 6,545,” said the committee.

Over the same period of time, SDMC said the Ministry of Local Government and Housing have issued 20 SOP violation compounds.

Out of that, 10 were issued by the Miri City Council (MCC), two by Kuching South City Council (MBKS), two by Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC), two by Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), two by Kapit District Council, one by Serian District Council, and one by Betong District Council.

As for the breakdown according to offence, six were issued to businesses operating over the allowed time, four for not updating the customer check-in log book or incomplete registration, three for not wearing face masks, two for allowing customer dine-ins, two for not checking in via MySejahtera or premise log book, one for not scanning body temperature, and one for a business that has not been allowed to operate during the CMCO.

All in all, SDMC said the Ministry of Local Government and Housing has issued a total of 518 compounds since February 1, 2021.
