MIRI (June 9): A 31-year-old man was arrested Monday night for allegedly molesting his 16-year-old sister-in-law.
Miri deputy police chief Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol said the suspect was picked up at the family’s house in Senadin around 9.15pm following a report lodged by the victim.
He said the alleged incident occurred around 8.30pm last Saturday when the man entered the girl’s bedroom while she was asleep and began to undress her.
“The girl up and screamed upon seeing her brother-in-law standing naked in front of her, and she immediately ran to her mother who was in the kitchen.
“The still-naked man followed her to the kitchen where he allegedly masturbated in front of both his sister-in-law and mother-in-law,” he said.
Mohd Sabri added the suspect has been remanded for seven days from yesterday until June 14 to facilitate further investigation under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
