Structure at Rambungan ferry landing facility in Lundu collapses, lands on vehicle

A vehicle was damaged as the structure fell on it at Rambungan ferry point.

KUCHING (June 9): A structure at the Rambungan ferry landing facility in Lundu has collapsed and landed on a vehicle earlier today.

Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) director Datu Zuraimi Sabki, who confirmed the incident, said fortunately, no one was hurt during the incident.

He said a team from JKR is already on the ground investigating the incident.

Zuraimi said initial investigation found that part of the fender fell during the repair works of the ferry landing facility.

“JKR team is on the ground now doing incident investigation. Offhand, we are fortunate nobody was hurt. A police report had been lodged,” he said.

Assistant Minister of Infrastructure and Ports Development Datuk Julaihi Narawi will be visiting the location this afternoon.

Zuraimi pointed out a full investigation is ongoing and the department or the ministry will issue a statement regarding the incident soon.
